REPORTED IN OKLAHOMAN: Conference of churches speaks out against housing immigrant children at Fort Sill

The Oklahoma Conference of Churches recently released a statement about the federal government's plan to house immigrant children at Fort Sill.

The Rev. Shannon Fleck, the conference's executive director, said the organization's stance has its foundation in Scripture.

"We've always had a pretty significant stance on how immigrants are treated, and that comes straight out of Scripture," she said.

She said she finds it "alarming" that "it has become so necessary to detain immigrants that centers are packed to the brimmed and now it is coming to Oklahoma."
